INDIAN'S ON THE OCCASION OF
INDIA'S 65th
INDEPENDENCE DAY. Independence day
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.
15th August, observed as a national holiday across the country, celebrates India's remarkable journey from a colonised country to a sovereign nation. Hence, we celebrate this day as Independence Day. This year is the 63rd anniversary of our freedom.Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.
- Rabindranath Tagore in Gitanjali
Freedom Struggle
On this day, our countrymen pay tribute to the great freedom fighters and national leaders, who laid down their lives in the fight against the British Raj.Great Quotations of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
You give me your blood and I will give you Independence.
Freedom is not given, it is taken.
One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. That is how the wheel of evolution moves on and the ideas and dreams of one nation are bequeathed to the next.
Great Quotations of Shahid Bhagat Singh
If the deaf are to hear, the sound has to be very loud. When we dropped the bomb, it was not our intention to kill anybody. We have bombed the British Government. The British must quit India and make her free.
Love always elevates the character of man. It never lowers him, provided love be love.
I emphasise that I am full of ambition and hope and of full charm of life. But I can renounce all at the time of need, and that is the real sacrifice.
Great Quotations of Sardar Vallabhai Patel
It is the prime responsibility of every citizen to feel that his country is free and to defend its freedom is his duty. Every Indian should now forget that he is a Rajput, a Sikh or a Jat. He must remember that he is an Indian and he has every right in this country but with certain duties.
My only desire is that India should be a good producer and no one should be hungry, shedding tears for food in the country.
Even if we lose the wealth of thousands, and our life is sacrificed, we should keep smiling and be cheerful keeping our faith in God and Truth.
Manpower without Unity is not a strength unless it is harmonised and united properly, then it becomes a spiritual power.
We should shoulder our responsibility by ourselves, and understand the people to takeover these responsibilities.We should not depend upon the Government by understanding the real situation.
Great Quotations of Mahatma Gandhi
We must become the change we want to see.
Remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall — think of it, ALWAYS.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
The Roots of Violence: Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles.
Great Quotations of Jawaharlal Nehru
We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.
Citizenship consists in the service of the country.
