DAE OCES 2011 and DGFS 2011 : On successful completion of training, they will join as Scientific Officers in one of the DAE units or AERB with attractive career progression opportunities up to the highest echelons.

OCES 2011 : One – Year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates & Science Post – Graduates starting in August 2011 at BARC Training Schools at : AMD Hyderabad, Department of Atomic Energy BARC Mumbai, IGCAR Kalpakkam, NFC Hyderabad, RRCAT Indore, Nuclear Training Centres, Kaiga, Kalpakkam, Kudankulam, Rawatbhata and Tarapur.
Successful completion of course work at the Training School will entitle trainees to Post Graduate Diploma of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a Deemed to be University.
This could also earn them credits towards M.Tech / MPhil / Ph.D. of HBNI provided their performance is above a specified threshold.
DGFS 2011 : Two – Year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Post-Graduates in Physics for Joining M.Tech in specific specialisations commencing in 2011 at : Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee. National Institute of Technology, Rourkela DGFS fellows will get opportunities for pursuing Ph.D through HBNI. Training Schemes and Employment Description :
1. One Year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post – Graduates for the Year 2011 – 2012 (OCES 2011) conducted at BARC Training Schools. Table – 1 lists Eligible Disciplines. Table – 2 lists the eligible disciplines and orientation of the training Program at each of the Training Schools along with the placement information after training.
A Trainee who scores a minimum of 50% aggregate marks on completion of the training program is declared to have passed the course successfully. Successful Trainees will be posted as scientific officers in one of the following DAE units :
  1. Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration & Research AMD Hyderabad.
  2. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre BARC Mumbai.
  3. Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd BHAVINI Kalpakkam.
  4. Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology BRIT Mumbai.
  5. Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology RRCAT Indore.
  6. Heavy Water Board HWB Mumbai.
  7. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research IGCAR Kalpakkam.
  8. Nuclear Fuel Complex NFC Hyderabad.
  9. Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd NPCIL Mumbai.
  10. Uranium Corporation of India Ltd UCIL aduguda.
  11. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre VECC Kolkata.
1.  These units have their head office at the indicated locations. Placement can be at the Head Office or at other facilities of these units located in different parts of India.
Allocation of a successful OCES trainee to a DAE unit Is done based on merit at the end of the OCES Program. DAE reserves the right to place a small number of selected candidates / trainees to any other unit under the Atomic Energy Commission or the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) apart from those listed above.

2. Two – Year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Post Graduates for the term beginning in 2011 (DGFS 2011). Under this scheme, Engineering Graduates and Physics Post Graduates who are selected for the Training School Program and who also have secured admission for M.Tech in select institutes and specializations as listed in Table – 3, are paid stipend and tuition fee to study for M.Tech degree.


After successful completion of one Year course work at the institute, fellows undertake project work, which is assigned and supervised jointly by a DAE and an institute guide. On successful completion of M.Tech, they are posted as Scientific Officers in DAE. Oh joining, they are required to first undertake a four – month Orientation Course (OCDF) at the BARC Training School, which is meant to Introduce them to specific academic requirements of the DAE Programs. The DGFS fellows are enrolled and posted in one of the following units of DAE :
  • BARC Mumbai.
  • RRCAT Indore.
  • IGCAR Kalpakkam.
  • NPCIL Mumbai.
Allocation of a DGFS fellow to a DAE unit is done at the beginning of the M.Tech Program. Selected candidates are required to execute an agreement and a personal Indemnity Bond to serve DAE or AERB for at least 3 Years after completion of training. Indemnity Bond is for Rupee 2,45,000/- for OCES trainees and Rupee 5,05,000/- for DGFS fellows. No third party surety Is required.
During Training for DAE OCES DGFS 2011 :
  1. Stipend and Allowances : OCES trainees as well as DGFS fellows are paid stipend of Rupee 20000/- per month during the period of their training and a one – time book allowance of Rupee 5,000/-.
  2. Boarding and Lodging in DAE / lnstitute Hostel / Guest House is mandatory.
On Appointment : Appointment in BHAVINI and NPCIL is governed by the service rules of Corporations, whereas appointment in other units shall be as a Group A Gazetted Officer of the Government of India.
Grade and Pay Scale : Appointment in all the units shall be as a Scientific Officer.
In the pay band Rupee 15600 – 39100/- with grade pay of Rupee 5400. Appointment will be at the beginning of the pay scale with OCES trainees getting two or 3 increments depending on their performance during the OCES Program and the DGFS fellows getting 3 or four Increments depending on their performance in M.Tech and four – month Orientation Course.
Emoluments (with 3 increments) at the time of joining including Dearness Allowance at the present rate will be approximately Rupee 24000/-.
In addition, other Allowances are also payable such House Rent, Transport and Professional Update Allowances, & Leave Travel Concession.
A comprehensive Contributory Health Service Scheme for employees and their dependent family members is also available at all DAE Units.
